Thinking of custom design?
Handmade objects worn close to the body provide the most personal expression of our creativity, our passions, and our style. I believe the energy that goes into creating custom jewelry provides the wearer a bit of that positive vibration each time that piece is worn. Creating jewelry is my chosen path, so I trust that positive energy is always present in my work and in my jewelry. — Nancy Lee
You will love creating a signature piece for a loved one or for your special occasion! My specialty is alternative wedding and commitment rings.
Imagine having a piece of custom jewelry created for you or a loved one. Read on from some general information that may help to inform your choice.
The process for each custom piece is as individual as you are. What can seem like an overwhelming number of choices and decisions to make it made simpler by taking things step by step. I’m experienced at leading you through the process of having your own dreams brought to life while deleting the stress from the event. Our initial conversation can be on the phone, via email, or face-to-face. We will discuss the type of piece you’d like to have made, who it’s meant for, and that person’s likes and lifestyle. There will be plenty of back-and-forth information gathering, which will enable me to provide you with ideas and concepts for the direction of the design. When in face-to-face meetings, I’ll often do quick sketches of ideas on the spot. I design intuitively, and freedom in design interpretation from drawing to bench is important. If a more precise drawing is desired, one will be made and provided within a few days. We will also discuss budget. Pricing is based on the complexity of the design and the materials required to make it.
Obtaining a Quote
When a design is settled upon, I’ll provide you with a quote that contains everything about the jewelry item that we have discussed in our meeting. Upon acceptance of the quote, a deposit is made and work begins. Most custom designs are completed within 8 weeks to 6 months, or longer depending on materials availability, design changes, and workload. Rush orders are accepted with an additional fee.
During the process of creating your handmade jewelry, I’ll take progress photos and send them to you. I find my clients enjoy this part of the process, and can see the labor of love in the creation of jewelry made by hand. Clients also have an opportunity to tweak design if needed. Once your jewelry is completed, I’ll let you know it’s done and we will arrange for pickup or shipment to your location.
I feel a responsibility to the earth that has produced beautiful metals and gems for us to enjoy and select the most sustainable, low impact sources for all of my materials. I work with ethically sourced and/or recycled precious metals, gemstones, and found objects. In my studio, I maintain safe and responsible jewelry practices. Sometimes I am able to include metal from a piece of jewelry, gemstone, or scrap that you already have. Sometimes I do not recommend re-using metal to create an entirely new piece, especially as there is no way to control the outcome with guaranteed results. Gemstones or found objects in good condition can be incorporated into a new piece of jewelry.
I make all of my work right here in my own shop using high quality materials. Each piece is painstakingly inspected prior to delivery. I stand behind everything I sell and warrant that all items will be free from any manufacturing defects at the time of delivery. In the event that there is ever a problem with your jewelry, it can be mailed back to my studio for inspection. If the problem is determined to be from a structural defect, I will repair or replace the item at no charge to you. You may also return your jewelry to my shop for free re-polishing and cleaning for the life of your fine jewelry, with only nominal shipping fees. Please contact me if you have questions or would like to return your item for my free warranty services.
